In Holland, accouncements are normally made in 3 languages.. in this order: the language of the airline making the annoucement, then dutch.. then english.. I'm waiting near the boarding gate to catch Iberia airline to Madrid.. Flights were being delayed all over the place.. everytime an announcment was made the area would fall silent..for the duration of the Spanish recital.. then the room would BOOM in hot discussion totally drowning out the other languages that followed. I cant speak spanish so as the next annoucement started, I manouvered my way to the attendants desk to hear better.. or at least lip read.. i caught both the dutch & the english translations.. BUT.. you could have knocked me over with a feather when some skinny little white kid got on the mic and started speaking CHINESE!! hahaha.. I spun around, scanning the crowd for a lost looking group of chinese tourists.. nothing. nada.

Since when did chinese become an official international language?

We finally made it home!

We've arrived in Durban - tropical, hilly, nice breeze.. the weather is great, it's autumn, a comfortable 75 degrees. Up past these trees you'll find our abode for the next 6 weeks...



But first, you will have to pass the home security system.. dogs.. every house has a few... First to meet and greet are the yappers.. these tiny things are the early warning system, they yap at anything that moves on the property that's not supposed to...



Should they not be pacified quickly, security will enter phase 2.. the mutt. This one has no vocal cords, you wont hear him coming.. it's scary facing the jaws of an animal that makes no noise, but you can see he wants to eat you - hahaha

A quick aside... Some have questioned my previous post as to why I fought with school admin.. making me out to be a bully - but nothing is further than the truth.. so let me explain briefly: the school tried to hold my child hostage. I had been in SA for a visit, and the afternoon of my departure I went to the school to pick her up so she could come to the airport... the school admin said "NO, the child is in class". I explained my reason for taking her out of school (last class of the day).. woman had the audacity to say I should have said goodbye that morning. Hmmm.. I said "get my child". They said "no - written permission required". I said "gimme a peice of paper". I wrote the note - they took it to the principal and returned with another "NO". HA! as if... I wasnt mad - but I was full of calm rage. The principal refused to show herself. Thus I spoke to the rest with a few choice words. I dont raise my voice, I dont wave my arms, I...

This road trip was good fun. My daughter and nephew were the camera folk, most pics taken at high speed, but I think they did well

I know how tiresome it is to watch someone elses *stuff* so the clip is quick, just 3 minutes. I hope you like it.

It is a 7 hour journey each way, and by (bad) luck, I missed a right turn in the city of Port Shepstone and ended up taking the coastal route on the way there - which is shorter, but the drive is.. really bad. road is far too curvy, people every step of the way.. speed limit averages 55 miles an hour - whereas the main route I took back home is longer, qua distance, but is an open road.. thus 85/90 mph is the norm. Me and my car enjoy option 2.

Hello Family!

It is generally known that sheep are one of the dumbest domesticated animals in the world. I mean literally. Sheep are completely controlled by their herd mentality, over and above any logic or reason. If one sheep walks off a cliff, the rest will calmly follow. NO JOKE. If you put a food in front of the main sheep and he refuses to eat, the rest of the herd will literally die of starvation. NO JOKE. If you come across herd while driving down a country lane - they wont move. You can run them over one inch at a time in slow motion.. and they wont move. NO JOKE. (You gotta get out and drag/chase the lead sheep away.. the rest will follow)

Knowing this, I always wondered why the church would refer to it's congregation as sheep. It is because they're white and fluffy? or because people are so dumb...

Then I thought about the herding part of these sheep tales.. it is true, you need a good shepherd when it comes to herding sheep.....

IMO...Silent screams are the loudest sounds in the universe. The highest octave which resonates within the human body. Yet it falls on death ears.

The universe is filled with silent screams. Screams of anger! Screams of rage! Screams of fear! Screams of sadness and pain! It's affect is seen and felt all across the galaxies.

Sometimes i hear it in a voice. Sometimes i see it in an action. Sometimes i feel it with my soul. Sometimes it overflows my being in a episode of steamy lava tears. Sometimes i refuse to feel and/or hear it, although its all around me and sometimes within.

One can easily be enchanted by the sound of a silent scream. It can cause you to react in both positive and/or negative ways. I guess it depends on the sound of your own silent screams. whether you want to sooth it or feed it to your own screams for intensity and volume.

A silent scream is the deepest of emotions one can express. Yet it raises

In these times you may feel weak and vulnerable, and it is easy to lose faith in your ability to go on. It is exactly in these times that you must turn to the infinite power within yourself. You must know that the answer is exactly where you are.
The strength you need, the answer you want, the solution that will turn the situation around is you. If you can put aside the anger, fear, weakness and desparation for just a minute you will remember the "other times" you were at the bottom and how in a moment, miraculously, you were lifted up.

Good day, Family!

One of the first orders of the first day home is to check the grounds. I absolutely love nature, from barren deserts to snowy mountaintops - but my greatest pleasure is found in the beauty of wild plantlife. Everything grows large in Durban, a tropical paradise hahaha It is autumn, so the fruit trees are almost bare.. flowers are scarce.. normally you look out at the horizon to a vast miriad of colours! But we have some lemon and avacado trees in the backyard, if the monkeys dont get them first, they are quite a treat. I caught some of my favourite plants on cam.. a fern in the backyard courtyard that's 8 ft wide.. a cactus on the side that rivals the height of the trees.. and a few flowers here and there. This is just wild growth, and I Love it!

After I posted the pics of the dogs I took a closer look at the monkey...

Last night I was sitting in the study (set apart from the main house), so very peaceful and quiet - I was cruising around the net minding my own business.. yawning.. thinking about going to bed - when out of nowhere - I was attacked! by a big hairy MOTH - hahaha.. about the size of my palm. Just smacked me in the back of my neck scaring the daylights out of me.. flying around my head with it's ugly fat grey body dashing itself against my monitor. Definitely woke me up! I opened the sliding doors - but do you think it flew out? no.. just hung around the rim of the doorway.. smh.. It eventually settled down atop a bookcase and although there are much bigger moths around.. they dont tend to attack one from behind. grrrr



that was the highlight of my week qua excitment - hahaha

Otherwise my week was rather uneventful.. enjoying the time hanging out with my daughter and the 2 'foster kids' . taking...

Today I had a conversation with someone about three popular words that can mean so much or mean so little, feel so good or feel so empty. “I love you” shoot from mouths like blanks from a gun often because its what a person feels the other wants or needs to hear. Most fail to realize “I love you” is most powerful when conveyed without verbal exchange. Some spend so much time repeating those three little words attempting to convince someone they love then, when more meaningful efforts, like a smile, a hug, a gift, a look, a gentle touch, an unexpected surprise, given space, a compromise and other countless action can penetrate a heart, mind and soul, effortlessly.

I went to the dentist - new guy on the block - his Diploma was on the wall and I recognized the name - an old high school classmate! Wow.. I recall him being so suave, so handsome.. I had quite the crush back then.. but when it was my turn on the chair, I was attended by an old, balding, wrinkly dude. I quickly discarded the thought that he could be the same guy. But the name was so familiar... so I eventually asked "Do you know Umtata High School?" he said yes.. he graduated in 1987.. I responded - "hey! that's my year - we were in the same class!"

Then that ugly, old, balding, wrinkly, pot bellied, decrepid son-of-a-B looked at me.. then asked.. "what did you teach?" grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Naw.. that didnt happen - haha - but I have little to report that's worthy of blog time - it's a been a cool week of some serious R&R.
