Black Poetry : Unanswered Prayers

Earlier today I was reminded of the days of the past ​

When life seemed golden and I prayed nightly it would last
Back then I had my life all planned and mapped out for me
For I thought that I definitely knew how everything should be ​

But in my state of ignorant bliss I wasn’t preparing for the hard times
I was trying to have it my way not knowing the best plan was not mine
I must thank God, He left those prayers unanswered back then
For my way would have had me sinking over and over again ​

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
For I am reminded when talking to the man upstairs
An answer of no or not yet doesn't mean He doesn't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers ​

As I look back I realize that the past was more nightmare than dream
For my new reality has given me new hindsight and changed me
For in those good ole’ days nothing was as it really seemed
Looking back I can’t recall what was good about those days
Thank God He didn’t answer all of my daily appeals and calls
I must confess the Lord must know what he's doing after all ​

As my past stood side by side with my future on today
I must Thank God that He guided me this enlightened way
For I am now better than bless no what it looks like to you
And I must daily Thank God and give Him his rightful due
For who knew unanswered prayer would be so truly good for me
I thank God for not allowing it to happen how I thought it ought to be
For left up to me my life would definitely be a complete mess
Thank you Father for genuinely knowing what was best​

It appears to me that unanswered prayer is just opportunity
A chance to await that which is truly intended for you
And when it is for you it will come on time, exactly when it’s due
So no matter what your life looks like right now
You have to trust and believe in God’s know how
For some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered... ​

For one hear all , what seem unanswered was one's will to not take you through
a maze of unforgettable moments yet one bless thee into a better change to see
if answered where you would be ......yes some of the greatest gifts is what's not
handed unto us through thou prayer ......feel you here .....what a blessing !

Sometimes we don't have the sense to know our wants and needs are not always what we need. Thanks for sharing this positive spin on unanswered prayers.

as we begin our prayerful requests...

...we start with, "Father, if it is your will..." asking that "our will" take place, may not be "God's will" for us. therefore, our prayers may seem to go unanswered, when HE was actually looking our for our WELL BEING...COZ everything that looks good...isn't, necessarily, good for us. usually, in time, we recognize this.
